The Upshot Group was founded in 2001 on the principle that business strategy should drive a company's financing strategy, and not the other way around. We have since grown into a global collection of highly experienced professionals who bring the best talent to address client needs.

Leadership:

Dr. Kevin K. Boeh - Managing Director
Strategy, corporate finance, capital markets, research, data analytics
Since 1990, Boeh has been an investment banker, management consultant, and tenured professor. He has completed over 100 successful strategic advisory, public and private corporate finance, and M&A assignments. He has raised over $5B (US) on Wall Street, and completed over $5B (US) in M&A transactions. He brings deep functional expertise at the intersection of strategy and finance. Prior to founding The Upshot Group, Boeh served as Vice President, Group Head at investment bank Robertson Stephens, and as the Head of the Strategic Development Group. Previously he was in the Strategy Consulting Practice at A.T. Kearney after starting his career at Accenture. Boeh serves on the boards of The Tacoma Employee's Retirement Fund (investment advisory) and several other funds/private firms. He has an extensive research publication record including a book on M&A. Boeh has taught or been on faculty at U. Florida, U. Washington, Ivey Business School, Seattle U., Colorado College, and PLU. Boeh has a Ph.D. from the Ivey School at U. Western Ontario, an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategy from UCLA, and a B.A. in Economics from Colorado College.


Dr. Jeffrey Stuart, FRM - Associate
Financial risk management, data analytics, complex modeling
Stuart is a tenured professor and teaches mathematics and statistics, risk management and financial modeling. He directs the undergraduate major in financial mathematics and teaches in the PLU Masters of Finance program. He is a GARP certified FRM (Global Association of Risk Professionals Financial Risk Manager). Recent projects include a financial mathematics textbook and a client project that involved a valuation model for executive contracts for a private investment firm. Stuart has published more than 45 research and expository articles in mathematics (matrix theory and graph theory) and economics. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars. One area of his research concerns how the best efforts to design public, business, and financial policies and models can lead to unexpected and often undesired results. Administrative experience includes serving as the secretary-treasurer of the International Linear Algebra Society and chairing the mathematics department. He has a Ph.D. from U. Wisconsin and a B.A. in mathematics and physics (Phi Beta Kappa) from Pomona College.


Bill Abbott - Associate
Facilities, business location, complex leases, build-vs-lease-vs-buy decisions
Abbott is a broker at Coldwell Banker Commercial (CBC) Danforth. He assists our clients with corporate tenant representation and property investment throughout the Puget Sound area and multiple other markets. Industrial, retail and office properties are his main area of focus. He strives to deliver high client value by leveraging a combination of market knowledge, transactional experience, financial analysis tools, and negotiation expertise. Prior to joining CBC Danforth, he gained a deep level of experience and knowledge in contract negotiations, logistics, and distribution operations while working for CB Richard Ellis and Sysco Corporation. He is successful in assisting his clients to meet their real estate portfolio objectives in a cost-effective and efficient manner. He has an M.B.A. from the U. of Washington, Bothell.


Pamela Waterhouse - Associate
Systems Development, Change Management
Pamela has been a business and IT consultant since 1990. She brings extensive experience in business systems analysis, project management and all aspects of the product development lifecycle from requirements definition, development, testing, delivery/implementation. Her key strengths include strong project management and business analysis experience. She has held senior positions with Fujitsu Consulting, Accenture, HSBC, and Bell Canada where she acted as an engagement manager responsible for defining and rolling out several industry leading web-based applications. Pamela graduated from the University of Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland.
